Very recommendable for who's interested in Aikido or wants a new style of Japan stories.

동티모르의 Joy씨로부터 Homma 선생에게 부쳐진 메일을 전해받았다. UNPOL로서 동티모르에 있을 당시 나의 학생이었는데, 또한 내 경호대상자였던 국회의장 Lasama의 부인이기도 하다.
I got the mail to Homma sensei from Joy Lasama, an ex-student of mine in Aikido and a wife of Mr. Lasama, my previous VIP and President of Parliament in Timor-Leste when I were there as UNPOL.

P.S. At the moment, I am doing research on the conditions and challenges facing women in the FFDTL (military) and PNTL (Police), as part of this government's commitment to "security sector reform". Aikido training came up several times as an aspiration for the women police and military -- and they had asked me to do something about it. 가정폭력 신고를 받고 도착했을 때, 잘못 찾은 줄 알았어.
발디딜 틈 없이 산더미처럼 쌓인 부서진 가재도구들, 방안에 들어가 보니 한 젊은 남자와 여자, 그리고 아이가 있었어. 방안도 역시 전쟁터를 방불했어. 술먹고 토한 토사물도 군데군데 있고.
Arriving at the scene of dmestic violence, I thought I was in wrong place.
Everything was broken like a hell, no sapce to step on, I saw a young man & a young woman and a baby girl in the war-like living room. I could also see spots of the vomitted.
남자는 22세, 여자는 19세, 여자아이는 2세래. 남자의 폭력에 시달려 병원을 찾은 적이 한 두 번이 아니래.
즉시 남자를 체포했고, 여자에게는 여성쉼터에 갈 것을 권했어. 저 폐허 속에서 웃는 아이를 보자니 눈물이 나려 했어.
The man was 22 yrs old, the woman 19 yrs old, and the baby girl 2yrs old. The woman had been to hospital lots of time because of the man's violence, she told me.
I arrested the man, and advise her to go to the shelter. I was almost crying seeing the baby girl smiling in the rubbish heap.
경찰서에 갔더니 여자가 와있었어. 처벌을 원치 않는데. 난 여자에게 후회할 것이라 말했어. 하지만, 여자는 결국 남자랑 같이 손을 잡고 웃으며 집으로 돌아갔어.
I met the woman in the station. She didn't want him to be punished. I told her she would regret soon. But, after all, she went back home smiling with the man, holding his hand.
1시간 뒤, 나는 홑옷에 맨발로 밖에서 오들오들 떨고 있는 그녀를 다시 만났어. 쉼터로 가겠데. 자기가 잘못 생각했데. 남자가 돌아오자마자 변하더래. 음료수 산다고 핑계대고 도망나왔데.
An hour later, I met her again, she was shivering in bare foot and thin clothes. The man changed his face as soon as he came back home. She sneaked away by excuse of buying drinks. She regretted, she wanted to go to the shelter.
아까의 폐허로 돌아갔어. 토사물 바로 옆에서 남자와 함께 잠든 아이를 보니까 울고 싶었어.
남자는 다시 체포됐고, 여자랑 아이는 여성쉼터에 인계됐어.
I was in the hell again. I really wanted to cry looking at the baby girl sleeping by the man, and the vomitted.
The man was arrested again. The woman and the girl were brought to the shelter.
쓰레기 더미를 밟으며 나오려는데 발 밑에 뭔가가 걸렸어. 빈 본드병 더미였어..
그래서 여자랑 남자의 눈이 풀려있었던 거야..
I stepped on something in the rubbish heap. A bunch of used adhesives..
That's why their eyes were not clean..
가슴이 먹먹해졌어. 더이상 울 수 없었어.
I couldn't cry anymore.

난 인간에 대해 회의하지만, 매일 기도해.

안녕하세요.성주환님.
성주환님의 블로그 덕분에 아이키도를 알게 되어 지금 부산 성무관에서
수련을 하고 있습니다.
글을 읽은지는 6개월이 다 되어 가는데 처음 글을 남깁니다.
정말 감사합니다.
그나저나 저 분들의 가정에 빨리 평화가 왔으면 좋겠고,
특히 아이가 정신적으로 많이 상처를 입었을 것 같아 걱정이네요.
성주환님 덕분에 여자분과 아이가 그나마 안전하게 된 것 같아
다행이네요.

경찰종합학교에 끌려가 경찰간부후보생 영어시험 출제 및 채점 마치고 돌아왔습니다.
2주간 햇빛도 못보고 갇혀있다 나오니 정말 왜 출소자들이 두부를 먹는지 이해하겠더군요.
Came back from the Korean Police Comprehensive Academy, had been setting questions for and graded English exam for the Police Officer cadets.
Away from the sunlight for 2 weeks, now I see why they eat tofu when they get free from prison.
밀린 잠이나 실컷 자렵니다.
I just want to long-awaited sleep.
p.s.일반 경과 객관식 시험은 최대한 '쉽게' 냈고, 외사 경과용 주관식은 최대한 '새롭게' 냈음.

노벨평화상 수상자인 주세 라모스 오르타 동티모르 대통령이 11일 아침 자택에서 반군들이 쏜 총에 맞아 복부에 중상을 입었다고 영국 BBC 방송과 로이터통신 등 외신들이 보도했다. 동티모르 정부군 대변인인 도밍고스 다 카마라 소령은 이날 오전 7시쯤 수도인 딜리 외곽에 있는 라모스 오르타 대통령 자택에서 반군과 경호원 사이에 총격전이 벌어져 라모스 오르타 대통령이 복부에 총상을 입었으며, 반군 지도자인 알프레도 레이나도 소령은 사살됐다고 밝혔다. 카마라 소령은 총격전으로 경호원도 최소 1명이 사망했다고 덧붙였다. p.s. 현지의 친구들에게서 안부확인메일의 답장을 받았는데, 호르타 대통령의 상태는 다행히 양호하며, 야간의 이동은 엄격히 금지되었지만 다행히도 시민들의 소요는 그리 크지 않다고 합니다. 지난 2월 5일에 동티모르에 입국하셨던 홈마 선생도 오늘 발리로 무사히 도착하셨다고 합니다. 홈마 선생님은 지난 네팔 소요시에도 현지에 계신 적이 있으시다는데, 이번에도 또 비슷한 경험을 하셨겠군요. 아마 좋은 글을 써주시리라 생각합니다.
