1번을 만나도 오랜 친구인 듯한 사람이 있고, 몇 년을 만나도 서먹서먹한 사람이 있다.
Someone becomes a up close and personal friend with just a first shot, and there's also the other one who'll still be a stranger even knowing him so long.

후레아이숙 숙장인 이시바시 료이치 선생은 내게 전자에 해당한다. 어제 선생과의 두 번째이자 1년 반 만의 만남을 가졌다. 선생은 이번에 지벡의 사장인 모리시게 씨와 함께 한국을 방문했다. 모리시게 씨와도 역시 두 번째 만남.
ISHIBASHI Ryoichi sensei, the Jukucho of Fureai-Juku is the former. I had the second meeting since 1 1/2 years ago. He came with Mr. Morishige, the owner of Xebec.
 
오전과 오후 두 차례의 수련 동안 선생의 움직임 하나 하나를 그대로 익히고 흡수하고자 노력했다. 머리로는 이해가 되면서도 왜 몸이 안따라주는 건지.. 52세의 노친네의 움직임을 말이다.
I tried to absorb everything I could see and feel from his movement during the morning and evening classes. But my body couldn't keep up with my brain.. and the 52-year old sensei.

선생에게 잘 보였던 덕분인지(?) 참으로 많이도 던져졌는데, 거의 100회를 상회하는 듯 하다. 지켜본 사람들의 말에 따르면 '아주 맘 놓고 패대기를 치더라'고. 내 스스로도 논스톱으로 던져지면서 중간에 선생의 눈빛이 변하는 걸 보고 '잘못 걸렸다'는 생각이 들었다. 결국은 넉다운. 그 당시를 찍은 영상을 정말 보고 싶다.
I was so honored(?) to be thrown over 100 times by him. The other students told;'He was really enjoying throwing and smashing you down'. I also saw he was changing while I was being non-stop-thrown, and thought 'I mustn't be here'. And knock-out. I really want to watch the movie shot at the time.

이시바시 선생은 당신의 스승이셨던 故야마구치 세이고 선생에 대한 큰 자부심을 가졌음을 대화하면서 다시금 느낄 수 있었다. 야마구치 선생이 하셨던 그대로를 보존하고, 왜 그런 것인지를 연구하는 것은 좋은 귀감이 될만 하다. 후레아이숙의 게시판에 자주 방문하여 선생의 글을 읽고 있는데 좋은 글들이 매우 많다.
Ishibashi sensei is very proud of his being studens of the late YAMAGUCHI Seigo sensei, I could feel it again having a talk with him. He wants to keep what he was taught exactly, and still is studying why his sensei did what he did. I regularly visit the website of Fureai-juku, his articles are very worth to read.

6월에는 야마시마 타케시 선생을 위시한 야마구치 선생 계열의 수련자들이 대거 한국을 방문한다고 한다. 이번 수련을 놓치고 후회하고 계신 분들, 6월은 절대 놓치지 않으시길 빈다.
