I like to go to bookstores. I just love to be in the woods and mountains of books and bookworms. That image always gives me some refreshment.
난 서점에 가는 걸 좋아한다. 산더미처럼 쌓인 책들과 독서삼매경에 쌓인 사람들. 이 모습은 내게 언제나 청량감을 준다.
Today I went to 'Kyobo Mungo', the biggest bookestore in the world, a mecca of bookworms. It also has a big section of Japanese books including MA books, my favorite spot.
오늘 세계 최대의 서점이자 책벌레들의 메카인 교보문고에 오랜만에 발을 옮겼다. 그곳에는 무술관련 서적을 포함한 큰 규모의 일본외서 섹션도 있는데, 내가 좋아하는 곳이다.
Today's visit wasn't for MA books but as usual, I went directly to the MA books corner in Japanese books section. Nothing. It was not like this before. A mountain of manga. Since 11 years ago when I found and bought an Aikido book by Moriteu Ueshiba there even though I couldn't understand any Japanese, I'd regularly visited there every weekend and bought every books I'd found until recent days. It's been my 'treasure island', and those books were my textbooks not only for MAs but also for Japanese.
금일의 방문은 무술서적 구입을 위한 것은 아니었지만, 평소와 같이 입구에 들어서자마자 바로 일본외서 무술서적코너로 향했다. 아무 것도 없다. 예전과는 전혀 다르다. 만화의 산. 11년 전 우에시바 모리테루 도주의 아이키도 책을 일본어를 전혀 모르는 채로 구입한 이후로, 최근까지도 정기적으로 이곳을 방문했다. 이곳은 내겐 '보물섬'이었고, 여기서 산 책들은 그저 무술교과서만이 아닌 일본어 교과서이기도 했다.
Moved to Korean MA books corner. Neither. Books made sereral years ago were still there untouched, even its number was decreased. No new book. there's nothing meaning no need and order for MA books.
한국어 서적관으로 발을 돌려 무술관련 책들을 찾았다. 역시나 없다. 신작은 없이 수년 전에 나온 책들이 여전히 꽂혀있고, 그 수마저 줄었다. 이제는 무술서적에 대한 아무런 수요와 주문이 없다고 한다.
People are talking about fighters in MMA tornaments. But who's interested in 'studying' MAs?
요즘 사람들은 종합무술 토너먼트에 나오는 파이터들에 대해 얘기한다. 하지만, 무술을 '공부하는 데' 관심을 두고 있는 사람은 없단 말인가?
p.s. Today's bookstore visit wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either because of unsensible persons ignoring saying 'Excuse me' when they pass by narrow aisle. I don't think it's so difficult to say. Frankly, I don't agree that 'Korea in this era' can be called 'the country of manner in the East'.
p.s. 간만의 서점 방문은 나쁘진 않았지만, 좁은 통로를 지나가면서 아무 말 없이 그냥 밀치고 가는 사람들 덕분에 좋은 기분도 아니었다. '실례합니다'라는 말 한마디 하는 게 그리 힘드나? 솔직히 난 '동방예의지국'이란 말은 지금의 한국에 어울리지 않는다고 생각한다.
